Step 1: Amount of Material

How much carpeting do you have?

Is there padding under the carpet that needs to be recycled?

Quick fact: 1 yard of rolled carpet weighs 5 pounds. The same quantity of carpet padding weighs 9 pounds!

Step 2: Verify Type

Carpet and padding comes in a variety of types and forms.

Carpet can be:
Nylon 6, Nylon 66, PET, Polypropylene, Wool, or a blend. The fibers can be cut loop or woven, and the backing can be glued or tacked down. Carpet tiles typically have a PVC backing that either bends without cracking or cracks when bent.

Carpet padding can be:
Rebond, Rubber, Foam, Fiber, or one of a number of specialty materials.

These details and distinctions are important for us to know to get you the best possible pricing. We can come and check your material at your site, or you can mail us a small sample (6 by 6 inches).
